Kenneth Zund - President

In 1961 Ken Zund began his career as a Leasing Agent at Salmon Management Company, the builder, owner and manager of numerous commercial buildings throughout New York City, including 500 Fifth Avenue, a 60 story Art Deco tower, and 11 West Forty-Second Street. Built in the early 1930’s, these two buildings encompassed over 1.5 million square feet of prime office and retail space.

Over the course of the next few years, Ken was promoted several times, and in 1977 was appointed Assistant Vice President of Leasing and Management. In 1981 Ken was named President of the firm, whereby he had consummate responsibility and decision making authority of this major real estate ownership entity, valued at that time, in excess of $200,000,000. It was during this period of time that Ken earned the status of Certified Property Manager (CPM) by the nationally accredited Institute of Real Estate Management.

In 1984, the controlling family of Salmon Management Company chose to divest itself of its' real estate holdings. Ken helped guide the break up of the ownership entity and sale of the privately held property portfolio. 500 Fifth Avenue was sold for a then astonishing $127,000,000.

Shortly thereafter, in 1985, Ken joined with his son Jeff to establish Kenneth Zund Realty Associates, Inc., with the concept of providing small to mid sized organizations a greater level of commercial real estate expertise and service than was typically offered to that market segment. Using his years of experience in dealing with all types of tenants, from individual professionals to multinational corporations, Ken believed that he could provide a unique perspective to the lease negotiation process, taking into consideration and respecting a landlord's point of view and requirements, while at the same time vigorously representing the best interests of the tenant. The logic being that landlords had highly trained professionals representing them on a daily basis. Tenants on the other hand, may only have had to deal with their commercial real estate needs every few years, and did not have benefit of the same level of representation. Why not level the playing field?

Since the inception of Kenneth Zund Realty Associates, Inc., Ken has been a driving force in developing lasting relationships with landlords and tenants throughout New York City, while at the same time playing an active role in the leasing or sale of nearly half a million square feet of commercial space in New York City.

Ken resides on Long Island with his wife, and enjoys spending his spare time with his grandchildren and traveling.

Dani O’Donnell - Senior Associate

After graduating from Kean University, where he was a starting wide receiver on the school’s football team, Dani joined his family’s commercial boiler installation firm, learning the business from the bottom up, ultimately attaining the position of Vice President. Realizing other career interests, Dani took a position with the Kaufman Management Company, a large owner of commercial properties in New York City.

At Kaufman, Dani learned the basics of commercial real estate from both a Landlord and Tenant perspective by showing available properties and attempting to fill vacant spaces in the firms’ properties. During this time, Dani was exposed to and dealt with  many of the issues facing both sides of the commercial real estate leasing transaction, quickly realizing that while the Landlord had a staff of experienced real estate professionals representing it’s best interests, many Tenants were either under-represented or not represented at all by a real estate professional.

With a preference towards Tenant representation services, Dani joined Kenneth Zund Realty Associates, Inc. in 2005, where he now works closely with Vice President and Principal, Jeffrey Zund. Since joining our firm, Dani has become an integral part of our success. He has developed a significant amount of new business, involving nearly 100,000 square feet of aggregate leasing transactions to date, including a complicated, long term, multi-property lease, to a prominent Asset Management firm for more than 19,000 square feet.

Dani currently resides in New Jersey and is active in Kean University Alumni and Sports programs. He enjoys working out and recently took up Scuba Diving, but his favorite hobby (besides watching the Dallas Cowboys) is working on his classic1966 Ford Mustang, which he has meticulously restored.

You can reach Dani at (212)- 213-8009 Ext. 15. or
